We’ve now setup our very own facebook page, to mark the group adopting a formal constitution last month.
You can find us at https://facebook.com/friendsofpollok – we’re also on twitter at https://twitter.com/friendsofpollok
The previous page was administered by a private individual, who kindly allowed us to use the existing page, but now we’re constituted, we thought it was more appropriate to have our own. We hope you’ll like and follow us to stay up to date on our plans.
The next meeting of Friends of Pollok Country park will be on 24th January at 6.30 in Pollokshaws Burgh Halls.
This meeting will provisionally see the formation of a constituted group to take things forward, so it’d be great to see as many people there as possible.
We’ve just updated the website to something a little more flexible. The original was very much a ‘holding’ page, which meant it was difficult for more than one person to maintain.
Whilst it’s still a bit basic, lots of goodies coming shortly.
Patricia McCarthy sent us the following poem, entitled “Autumn”
Bare trees and carpets of leaves
are all that remain after summer’s bright glory.
The birds their minstrel chorus still sing
but changed it seems is their light hearted story.
The Country Park is strangely quiet
yet a beauty still pervades the land.
Golden Autumn’s cloak has again draped over
nature’s welcoming lovers of the Almighty hand.
