That is the best news. Was in on Saturday and it was a much calmer, quieter place. I love that people want to use 5he Park but the cars were disgraceful.
Future week end closing of park to cars ? Not a good move when the Burrell collection opens and becomes an international destination for visitors from all over the world. And parking in side streets ? There was a noticeable increase this week end even during a world pandemic and off peak weather. First tops- off good weather day and every where will be rammed.
The closure has been extended to future weekends. Regarding the Burrell collection/long-term access to the park, an active travel management plan was published last year, which incorporates a major restructuring of park access and parking (our news post here).
We’re a friends group for the park, seeking to raise awareness of park developments, issues, and help to improve where we can. We’d encourage concerns/queries about the park to be raised directly with the council/councillors.
I hope the powers that be start to monitor parking in the local streets . Has anybody thought of the impact of this on local residents ?
